Chelsea have reached an agreement with Strasbourg for the transfer of Deivid Washington.
According to a report from French outlet L’Equipe, Chelsea has agreed to sell Brazilian forward Deivid Washington for approximately €21 million. Having signed him for €16 million just last year, the Blues stand to make a profit despite the player having only 28 minutes of game time for the club.
Strasbourg, the club acquiring Washington, is also owned by the American consortium BlueCo, which owns Chelsea.
Chelsea should consider reinvesting the proceeds from this sale into strengthening their squad before the transfer window closes.
Deivid Washington needs consistent playing time.
Washington will now focus on getting his career back on track with regular first-team action. At just 19 years old, he's highly regarded across Europe and has a promising future ahead. He'll aim to establish himself as a key player for the Ligue 1 club.
With limited opportunities at Chelsea, where he faced a struggle for consistent game time, a move makes sense for the young Brazilian. This transfer offers him the chance to play regularly and continue his development.
For Chelsea, recouping their investment in Washington opens the door to reinvesting in their squad. The club has been linked with high-profile attackers like Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney in recent weeks. It will be interesting to see who they ultimately sign, as securing a reliable goalscorer is crucial if they aim to finish in the top four and compete for domestic trophies.
Chelsea will certainly hope they don’t regret letting the 19-year-old go this summer. With his potential to develop into a top-class forward, Washington will be determined to prove his worth at the highest level.
